Smallpox Vaccine - Inadvertent Inoculation

Definition:

The lesion produced by vaccination is contagious beginning about 4 days after vaccination and lasting until the site has completely healed. It is possible to spread the virus to other sites of the body, other people, or other surfaces. This risk can be reduced by using breathable bandages, not scratching the immunization site, and frequently washing hands.
