Botox Makes Life Easier?

Friday October 3, 2008
In a new study presented at the 2008 American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery Foundation (AAO-HNSF) Annual Meeting, researchers determined that people who had Botox injections made better first impressions related to dating success, athleticism, and attractiveness.

The researchers took pictures of people before and after they had Botox injections and randomly distributed them in books for reviewers to look at. These reviewers then completed a survey that determined their first impressions related to different measures of success.

The researchers found that people who had the Botox injections improved their first impression scores for dating success, athleticism, and attractiveness. Interestingly, the researchers did not find any improvement in scores related to social skills, financial, or relationship success.

I find this study interesting on many levels, but I think it's ironic that the Botox recipients improved their scores for dating success but not for relationship success. Does this mean that we perceive people who look nice as more shallow and less stable?
